DSC_6284 DSC_6287 DSC_6288 DSC_6290Hi guys! I hope you all had a wonderful week! Christmas is coming very soon! Today I am here to share one last Christmas gift DIY with you all. Today I am going to share how to make these fun vintage paint by number letter bookends with you all. Using my printable below, some wood letters, and a piece of an old pallet you can make a fun and unique pair of bookends for someone special. Here’s my how-to:

Here’s What You Need:

*Wooden Letters

*Paint

*Printable (below)

*Mod Podge Matte

*Paint Brush

*Wood Pallet Strip

*Saw ( You can use a hand saw or a mitre saw)

*Brad Nailer and Brads or hammer and little nails

DSC_5382The first thing you need to do is print out your paint by number printable. If your letters are not painted go ahead and paint them then let them dry. I printed mine on a watercolor textured paper. Lay your letter face down onto the back side of your printed paper and trace.

DSC_5383Now take your ruler and mark inside your traced line in an eighth of an inch all the way around your letter. Cut out the letter on the inside line.

DSC_5384 DSC_5385Paint a layer of mod podge medium onto the back of your paper letter and then smooth the paper letter onto the front of the wooden letter. Let the letter dry.

Im sorry I cant find the photos I took for the wood part. Take a plank of pallet wood and mark where you will put your letter on it, then decide where to cut the wood and mark it. Cut the wood with your saw or mitre saw. Cut two pieces for each letter. Glue the one piece onto the other. Then, pop a few brads into the joint of the wood from the bottom with the brad nailer. Then glue your letter onto the middle of the bottom piece of wood. To finish off the bookends, shoot a few brads into the bottom of the bookend into the bottom of the letter.

You can personalize your to your decor or the taste of your gift recipient. All you have to do is use a different color of paint or style of your letters. I hope you will give it a try. I think these would be a lovely gift for gals and guys. I hope you all have enjoyed my Christmas gift series. I’ll be back next week with some holiday wrapping. Until then…

Happy Crafting!

    What a cool idea. 🙂

I still have a paint-by-number horse that my mother painted years ago.
