DIY Big Christmas Card Signs

Hi guys! Welcome to day ten of my 12 Days of Christmas crafting! Today I am going to show you how to make these fun extra large holiday card signs to hang around your holiday home. This is such a fun and easy project and it is pretty quick to whip up. You can use any cards you have on hand that you love. I used some vintage Christmas cards from my collection. I love vintage holiday cards! The graphics are just so fun!

Here’s What You Need:

*Old Kitchen Cabinet Doors

*Paint

*Primer

*Glitter Paint

*Decoupage Medium

*Christmas Cards

*Scanner

*Enlarged Prints of cards

Instructions:

The first thing you need to do is scan in your cards. Scan them in at a high resolution. The next thing you need to do is measure the inside of the frame of your cabinet door. Next, crop and resize your Christmas card to be the same dimensions of the door measurement. So if the inside of my cabinet door in between the face frame was 8×13, then I would crop and resize my card to be the same dimensions. Now you need to get the cards printed. You can get oversized prints made at Staples. Or you can put some images together in one file like a collage and get a poster printed from an online printing site like cafe press or zazzle. I wanted to frame some smaller prints, so I ended up making a collage and getting them printed as a collage in a poster. When you have your enlargements, trim them to size. Now, paint your cabinet door how you like. Prime the door, then paint the “frame” part of the door with your choice of color paint and then paint a layer of glitter paint over the first color. When your cabinet door has completely dried you are ready to add your card enlargement. First, paint a layer of decoupage medium onto the inside part of your cabinet door inside of the face frame. Then paint a layer of medium onto the backside of your enlargement. Carefully pick up your enlargement and lay one edge face up onto the cabinet door so the medium you painted on both the cabinet door and the picture are touching. Lay out the enlargement onto the door and smooth out and center making sure it is lined up and there are no bubbles. Now, paint a layer of medium on the top to protect it. Add a hanger to the back and you are ready to display your sign.

I LOVE my Christmas card signs! I used two of my absolute favorite cards that I had. One of them is hanging in my bedroom, and the other in the living room. They really add a festive touch to my wall. You can really customize these little signs just by the colors and cards you use. This project is really fun to make! I hope some of you will give this one a try, you’ll have a blast making them! I’ll be back tomorrow with another fun Christmas project. Until then…

Happy Crafting!
