DIY Retro Christmas Yarn Wreath

Hi guys! Welcome to day seven of my 12 Days of Christmas crafting! Today I am going to share with you my latest yarn wreath. As some of you all know, yarn wreaths are not anything new around here. I LOVE them, and I love making them, so I make one for just about every season and occasion. For my Christmas wreath I wanted to incorporate a retro plastic santa and reindeer flying over a little putz house. Yarn wreaths are really simple to make. They are a little time consuming, but the end result is totally worth it!

Here’s What You Need:

*Straw Wreath Form

*One Skein Each of Red Yarn and White Yarn (I like the textured kind)

*Green, White and Red Felt for Felt Flowers (Tutorial Here)

*Retro or Vintage Plastic Santa and Reindeer ( I bought mine Here)

*Vintage Putz house

*Hot Glue

*Scissors

Instructions:

You can find a more detailed tutorial from my first yarn wreath here. The basics are always the same. The first thing you do is wrap your wreath. Tie one end of red yarn onto your form. Wrap the red around the form several times until you have wrapped about an inch and a half wide. Snip the yarn leaving a few inches for a tail. Tie the white yarn to the tail of the red yarn and wrap the white yarn around the form until you have about an inch and a half. Then repeat, alternating the red and white yarns to make the stripes all the way around the wreath form. When you are finished wrapping your form clip the end yarn and glue down the tail end. Next you will need to make your felt flowers. You can find the full tutorial here. Glue your putz house don in the bottom of the inside of the wreath. Next, glue your santa and reindeer. Glue the sleigh to the upper left side of the wreath, and then glue the reindeer angled up towards the top of the wreath. Then, lay out your flowers and when you have an arrangement you are happy with , glue the flowers down. You can either hang your wreath from ribbon, you can use a wreath hanger, or you can sit it on a shelf or a bookcase like I did.

I love my new Christmas wreath! It was so fun to make. There is something very therapeutic about wrapping yarn around a wreath. This wreath is really pretty simple to make. I hope some of you guys will give this one a try for your next Christmas wreath. You’ll love it too! I’ll be back tomorrow with another fun Christmas craft. Until then…

Happy Crafting!
