Funky DIY Summer Sunnies

One of my favorite accessories to hoard is sunglasses! When I wore contacts, I had a ton of them! Now thanks to our lovely NC allergies, I can’t handle contacts anymore, so I am limited to a couple pair of prescription sunglasses which I love. The other day I was in Five Below and went crazy over the summer sunglasses they had out! Even if I can’t really wear them, I still had to find a DIY to do with a couple of pair. There are a ton of ways to upcycle your sunglasses! I have seen a ton of ideas on the web and Pinterest like these, these, and these. And I even found a similar diy to mine the other day at Maize Hutton’s Blog with cute paper flowers. This diy is super fast and easy, and you can embellish a pair in just a few minutes!

Here’s What You Need:

*Sunglasses (I bought mine at Five Below)

*Cute Japanese Cabachons

*Vintage Buttons, Cabachons, etc

*Tiny Plastic Flowers

*E-6000

*Toothpicks

Instructions:

Grab your stash and play around with what cabachons and flowers you like where. Once you have a design you like, you are ready to glue. Grab a dab of e-6000 onto the tip of your toothpick and spread liberally on the back of your cabachon. Glue the cab down to the frame of your sunglasses. Repeat with the remaining embellishments. Once your glue is dry you are ready to sport your new sunnies!

Aren’t they so cute and kitschy! I so wish I could wear them myself! My sister’s are getting to enjoy them for me, and that makes me so happy too! I hope some of you will give this one a try! You can make a pair in under five minutes minus the drying time for the glue. They are really customizable as well! You can funk them up with some kitschy plastic animal cabachons, or vintage buttons that have the backs cut off. Or, embellish them with tiny vintage inspired flower cabachons.
