Sweet Bunny

I grew up adoring stuffed animals when I was little and had a ton of them. One of my favorite things about Easter growing up was getting a new bunny every year in my basket. I still have a few of them, and hope to pass them down to my children someday. Today I have a special Easter treat with you. I am going to show you how to make this cute little stuffed bunny for your basket this year.

Here’s What You Need:

*Fabric-

*Contrast Fabric

*Embroidery floss

*Buttons

*Marking Pen

*Pom Pom

*Sewing Machine and thread

*Stuffing

*Needle and thread

Pattern: (Print at 8.5×11)

Instructions:

First, trace the pattern onto your fabrics and cut out all the pieces. If the contrasting fabric for the ears is thin cut some interfacing and iron it on to the ear pieces. With your needle and embroidery floss stitch on the buttons for the eyes onto your bunny front. Now embroider a heart for the nose and make a mouth. Now your face is stitched. With right sides facing sew the ear lining and back together. Trim and clip curves. Turn ears right side out. Now, at the bottom of each ear, turn both sides into the middle. Pin ear to the top of the bunny front right sides facing and staystitch in place. Next, with right sides facing sew from the bottom up around and back to the bottom leaving a couple inches for turning. Now you are ready to make the gussets. On each bottom corner, fold the fabric so tha the side seam and the bottom seam line up. This will form a triangular tip. Measure down from the point an inch and mark across the seam line. Sew along this line. Clip excess fabric. Now turn your bunny right side out through the hole in the bottom. Add your stuffing. Once stuffed stitch up the opening and stitch on the pom pom tail by hand with your needle and thread. Fini.

Isn’t this little bunny just too darn cute! I love it! This little gal was really fast to make. The best thing is she can be made of scraps, so she’s so inexpensive, you could make her a fella too without breaking your bunny budget. This sweet bunny would be perfect for your basket, but she’d also make a fun gift for your favorite gal pal. And the design possibilities are endless. You can change up her expression and the design of the fabric to suit your taste. I hope some of you give this one a try! I can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Happy Crafting!

  2. They’re so cute! I loved soft toys when I was growing up too. My mum’s rule was if you get a new one you have to give an old one away 😛

    • That’s so funny and smart on her end. I don’t think I could have done that. After watching the velveteen rabbit as a kid I believed my toys were real. I could not have hurt their feelings by giving anyone away 🙂
