This week I was browsing through etsy and stumbled upon one of the cutest shops i’ve seen in a long time, Ninainvorm, from the Netherlands. Nina van de Goor, the artist behind Ninainvorm, makes amazing collages and screen prints on vintage ceramics. She had me hooked with her ceramics, which we all know is one of my vintage finds obsessions, but what makes her work so fresh is her designs. They are whimsical and colorful, and the way she places her designs onto the vintage ceramics and incorporates them into the original design of the piece is truly fantastic! Each piece is unique and lovely. Here are a few of my favorites:
I love them all, I really couldn’t pick a favorite! To see more of Nina’s fabulous work visit her Etsy shop here: www.ninainvorm.etsy.com
Since I missed last weeks feature, I am doing a double this week with the kitchy theme of “Midcentury Housewife.” Over the past few weeks i’ve been building up a bit here and there including amazing ceramics, dishes, fashion accessories, and of course, a lot of linens. Check out these great finds:
This weeks featured artist comes from the lovely UK. Tracey Long of Chasing the Crayon is a freelence artist who creates amazing watercolors bursting with charm and whimsy. I love how quirky her prints are. I have to say that my favorite by far is the greyhound and chicken print titled “Dog Kitchen Maid and Chicken Cook”. As some of you already know I have quite a family of fuzzy friends, including three cats, a dog(an italian greyhound), a very old fish, and 10 chickens. This print was made for me, I tell ya, and it is already on my birthday list this year. I also really love her deer and her circus bear. They are all just fantastic! Take a peek:
I have just added a bunch of new items to my etsy shop, Sweet Sophie Blue, today. I am adding to my softie line with “naked” bears I am calling “Plush in the Buff”. You can now buy a bear, bunny, or kitty undressed, and unnamed, and choose your own clothing and accessories for them if you so like. Take a peek at some of my “Plush in the Buff”
Here are some of the Hair Flowers:
And I’ve also added several dresses made from vintage hankies and bed linens
I have also started making mini versions of my plushies. Check out the new Mini Plush
You can find all these fun little cuties in my shop here:
I have been meaning to post these for the last couple of weeks. I have recently been working on a new line of softies for my shop. I love to sew and have started making bears each with their own personality and little story. They all come dressed in clothing made from vintage fabrics, and accessorized. I just started making “naked bears that you can dress yourself and will post about those next. But first let’s meet the one of a kind artist bears available in my shop.
Miss Lulla Rose is a collector. She lives in one of the biggest oak trees in the forest, and her home is chocked full of treasures. Her favorite things to collect are bunny toys, chairs, teapots, ceramic planters, and stamps. You can usually find her scouring the local antique shops and thrift stores, or she perhaps at home decorating with the help and opinion of her many cats.
Madeline Maree is an artist at heart and creates art with whatever she can get her paws on. Her favorite things to make are blankets, pincusions, garden art, and cake decorating. She’s just as fierce a knitter as she is a skilled welder. There’s nothin this bear can’t do.
Ophelia Louise, or Opie Lou as her family calls her, is a sweet spirited bear. She has many loves, but her favorite things to do are dance, read poetry, and bake cupcakes. Most days you can find her dancing in her kitchen, or hangin out with her friends reciting the great sonnets of Shakespere and munchin on handmade sweets.
Little Miss Emmylou is a quiet and kind little bear who likes to spend all of her time outside with her woodland pals. Her favorite things are picking wildflowers, drinking tea in pretty cups, and her best pal and constant companion Ferdinand the deer. Most afternoons you can find Emmylou and Ferdinand curled up under a big tree with a good book and a cup of tea.
Madame Mollie Mae is just mad about birds! She owns a pet shop in town that specializes in all types of exotic birds. She can whistle and mimic the call of any bird in her shop. She lives high up in a tree house shaped to look like a big fancy victorian birdhouse along with her best friend and favorite bird, Ollie blue.
Auntie Odalee is a spunky and nuerotic old gal who absolutely loves to explore. She’s an accomplished musician and opera singer who retired from the stage to lead a more exciting life traveling and teaching piano lessons to the rich and famous aboard her sailboat.
You can find all these funky gals in my etsy shop Sweet Sophie Blue.
This weeks featured artist comes from across the sea in beautiful Paris. Emilie is a mother of two and the fabulous artist behind her handmade line Sweet Millie Handmade. This lovely shop is full of handsewn goodies! Take a peek:
Everything is so cute! I really love her cows! They are fantastic! And I do have a little obsession with anything gingham! To see more of Emilie’s adorable handmade items visit her etsy shop here: www.sweetmilliehandmade.etsy.com
Bonjour mes amis! This past week my hubby and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We wanted to have our wedding at home, but after the stress of planning, and a tiny budget, we decided to do something completely different, and we hopped on a cruise with ten of our closest family members. The last stop on the cruise was the island of St. Maarten which is half french and half dutch. My parent’s know the island really well, they have a little flat on the french side they rent out to vacationers when they are not there. So they were able to plan a whole little wedding excursion for us. On March 8th of 2007 we got hitched on an amazing bluff that had actually been the ruins of an old hotel. My dad, who is a minister, performed the ceremony, and afterwards we all had a great lunch and a beautiful wedding cake they had ordered for us at a little beach restaurant at Orient Beach. It was such a fantastic day! So in honor of my anniversary and the beautiful french side of Saint Marten, I decided to do a vintage french theme this week. I hope you all enjoy!

This week I am featuring a wonderful potter, Catherine Reece from the wonderful world of Etsy. Take a peek:
Catherine’s work is whimsical and adorable. She even makes cockroaches look cute with her “cockroaches in love” items. And I love the praying mantis! But I have to say, my absolute favorites of her lovely designs are her birds! To see more of Catherine’s lovely creations you can visit her shop on Etsy here: www.catherinereece.etsy.com
Aren’t they all so cute?!? I love anything Hazel Atlas, animal ceramics, and of course vintage linens! I hope you all enjoy these lovely finds and browsing these awesome shops as much as I do! Until next week…
This weeks featured artist comes from across the sea, in the UK. Bo, the lovely artist behind Lazydoll creates beautiful little works of art from paintings and altered art collage to sweet little coin purses. My favorites are the little sewn itmes because they incorporate painting and embroidery. All of Bo’s characters have such a sweetness about them, you just can’t help but be smitten. Here are a few of my favorites:
I love them all! But if I had to pick a favorite i’d say it’s the bunny coinpurse, too cute!
Hi! I'm Ashlee, and I love to create all kinds of lovely things! I spend my days creating and thrifting with my amazing hubby, three crazy cats, one very spoiled dog, and eight adorable chickens. Follow along with me for a heap of DIY projects, everything I just adore, and a healthy dose of vintage goodness.
